Meet the medical director at The Emergency Clinic at The Pearl

Michael Magoon, MD

Dr. Michael Magoon is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has more than 20 years of Emergency Medicine experience. He has been accepted as a “Fellow” in both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Magoon has worked at Wilford Hall USAF and Brooke Army trauma centers, Baptist and Methodist Emergency Departments, and the Shannon West Texas trauma center in San Angelo.

Dr. Magoon taught Emergency Medicine at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. While in the Air Force, Dr. Magoon was recognized as one of two worldwide “subject matter experts” in Emergency Medicine. He has extensive experience in pre-hospital care; including training with the Counter Narcotics Task Force in Washington D.C and the National Association of EMS Physicians. He served as the Medical Director for Lackland AFB EMS, and as the Assistant Medical Director for the San Antonio AirLife Helicopter Rescue program.

The Magoon’s have lived in San Antonio since 1990 and have made their home in Alamo Heights. We are so proud of our outstanding team of clinicians and look forward to continued service to the Alamo Heights community.

The Emergency Clinic at the Pearl is a designated safe baby location

Under the Baby Moses Law, parents are allowed to surrender their babies younger than 60 days at a hospital, fire station, free-standing emergency center, or EMS station. If you have a newborn that you’re unable to care for, you can bring your baby to a designated safe place with no questions asked; the Emergency Clinic at The Pearl is one of these designated safe places. You can find out more information about this law in the Texas Family Code, Chapter 262, Sub-chapter D. Emergency Possession of Certain Abandoned Children.
