SAN ANTONIO, TX — September 2026
Complete Care Brooks City Base partnered with the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine to host the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine Flu Clinic on September 9, 2026. During the community healthcare outreach event, Complete Care team members Josefina Obregon and Jennifer Gonzalez administered 239 flu vaccinations to UIW students and staff at the school’s campus at 7615 Kennedy Hill Drive in San Antonio.
The flu clinic was organized to make seasonal vaccination convenient and accessible for students and employees while helping protect the broader campus community. By bringing the vaccinations directly to the School of Osteopathic Medicine, Complete Care and UIW helped participants prepare for flu season without having to leave campus.
“Providing 239 flu vaccinations in one day was a tremendous accomplishment and a great example of what can happen when healthcare and education partners work together. Josefina and Jennifer did an outstanding job caring for the students and staff while helping make the entire process convenient, welcoming, and efficient.”
Laurie Lerma, Regional Marketing Liaison for Complete Care
Seasonal influenza can spread quickly in environments where people regularly learn, work, and interact closely with one another. Medical schools and other educational campuses bring together students, faculty, employees, and visitors throughout the day, making preventive health efforts an important part of protecting the entire community.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends seasonal flu vaccination for everyone six months of age and older, with limited exceptions. Annual vaccination can help reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza and may also reduce the severity of illness for individuals who become infected.
For medical students and staff, staying healthy also supports learning, attendance, and the ability to continue serving others. The UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine prepares future healthcare professionals, making the clinic an especially meaningful opportunity to demonstrate the value of preventive care within the healthcare community.
Complete Care Brooks City Base Clinical Coordinator Josefina Obregon and Jennifer Gonzalez provided each of the 239 vaccinations during the clinic. Their work helped ensure that participants could move through the process efficiently while receiving attentive and professional care.
The event also reflected the continued partnership between Complete Care Brooks City Base and the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine. Community partnerships like this allow Complete Care to support local organizations beyond the walls of its freestanding emergency room and bring helpful healthcare services directly to the people who need them.
“Keeping a community protected begins with making healthcare easier to access,” said George Reainthong, Director of Marketing and Growth for Complete Care. “This flu clinic allowed us to support students and staff who are preparing for careers in healthcare while also helping protect the people they learn, work, and interact with every day. We are proud of Josefina and Jennifer for representing Complete Care with such professionalism and compassion.”
Complete Care also recognizes LaDonna Davidson, Director of Student Affairs, and Kimberly DeLaFuente, Assistant Director in the Office of Student Affairs, for helping coordinate the clinic and supporting the health and wellness of the UIW community.
The success of the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine Flu Clinic demonstrates how local partnerships can strengthen community health. By working together, Complete Care Brooks City Base and UIW provided a convenient preventive healthcare service while encouraging students and staff to take an active role in protecting themselves and those around them during flu season.
Complete Care remains committed to supporting community outreach, local partnerships, preventive health education, and healthcare services throughout San Antonio. In addition to participating in community health initiatives, Complete Care Brooks City Base provides 24-hour emergency care for adults and children experiencing illnesses, injuries, and other medical emergencies.
