Austin, TX — September 2026
On September 23, 2026, VIK Complete Care supported a Community CPR and AED certification class at Lake Travis Community Library after the library reached out requesting training for its team.
Eighteen participants gathered at Lake Travis Community Library, located at 1938 Lohmans Crossing Road in Lakeway, for hands-on instruction led by Christian and Jared with Republic EMS. The class focused on CPR, proper AED use, recognizing a cardiac emergency, and understanding what steps to take during the critical moments before emergency medical personnel arrive.
The request from Lake Travis Community Library reflects a proactive approach to emergency preparedness. Public-facing organizations such as libraries interact with people of all ages throughout the day, and having individuals on site who are trained in CPR and AED use can provide another level of preparedness should an emergency occur.
“Our library serves people of all ages every day, so making sure our team is prepared for an emergency is incredibly important. We appreciate VIK Complete Care and Republic EMS working with us to provide this training. Giving our team the opportunity to become CPR and AED certified adds another level of preparedness and gives us greater confidence should an emergency ever occur at the library.”
Morgan McMillian, Library Director at Lake Travis Community Library
“CPR and AED training gives people an opportunity to practice these skills before they are ever faced with having to use them in a real emergency,” said Christian and Jared of Republic EMS. “Our goal is for participants to leave the class with a better understanding of what to do and the confidence to step in and help when those first few minutes matter.”
For VIK Complete Care, responding to requests like this provides another way to support organizations that serve the community every day. Rather than limiting emergency education to a healthcare setting, these partnerships help bring practical lifesaving knowledge directly into workplaces and community spaces.
“When an organization reaches out to us asking for CPR and AED training, we want to do everything we can to help connect them with those resources,” said Shauna Tripp, Regional Marketing Liaison for VIK Complete Care. “Lake Travis Community Library serves so many people in the area, and having 18 more individuals trained and certified means more people in our community now have the knowledge to respond if they are ever faced with an emergency.”
The September 23 class is part of VIK Complete Care’s continued effort to support health education and emergency preparedness throughout the Lakeway community. By working alongside Republic EMS and local organizations, VIK Complete Care hopes to continue expanding access to CPR and AED education and encouraging more workplaces and community organizations to make emergency preparedness a priority.
