STAR ER Introduces GE Revolution EVO 128 Slice CT Technology to Support Emergency Care in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (October 2026)

STAR ER, part of the Complete Care network, installed a new GE Revolution EVO 128-slice CT system on October 2, 2026, replacing its existing 16-slice scanner. The entire radiology team completed training on the new equipment, with patient use beginning October 6.

The installation is part of Complete Care’s investment in new CT technology across all 14 locations in Texas and Colorado. The upgrade is intended to support faster scanning, improved image quality, and greater equipment reliability, strengthening the diagnostic resources available to physicians and clinical teams.

CT imaging plays an important role in emergency medicine by providing detailed internal images that help physicians evaluate injuries and medical conditions. For patients seeking emergency care at STAR ER, the new system brings updated imaging technology directly into the facility’s diagnostic process.

“Detailed imaging helps us better understand a patient’s condition and determine appropriate next steps in care,” said Dr. Dale Curtis, Medical Director of STAR ER. “The new CT system strengthens an important diagnostic resource our team relies on when evaluating emergency illnesses and injuries.”

Moving from 16-slice to 128-slice CT technology represents a significant equipment upgrade for STAR ER. Along with improved imaging capabilities, the new scanner is expected to provide greater reliability and reduce equipment downtime, helping keep diagnostic imaging available when clinical teams need it.

The transition also included training for the entire radiology team. Preparing staff to operate the new system supports its integration into daily patient care and reflects the importance of pairing technology investments with team readiness.

“This is an exciting milestone for STAR ER and the Lubbock community,” said Tracie Nichols, Nurse Manager for STAR ER. “Our radiology team is fully trained on the new equipment, and we’re proud to offer this technology to local residents and families.”

Complete Care spent approximately six months reviewing equipment options before selecting the GE Revolution EVO. All 14 locations will receive the same scanner, establishing a consistent imaging platform across the organization. The rollout will take place in phases over approximately nine to 12 months, with completion targeted no later than August 2027.

“This is an investment in both our facilities and the communities we serve,” said Rob Morris, CEO of Complete Care. “Reliable, advanced technology helps our clinical teams provide the best possible care to every patient.”

STAR ER provides 24-hour emergency care in Lubbock, Texas. Its new CT system marks a local milestone in Complete Care’s broader commitment to investing in diagnostic technology, staff preparation, and healthcare services throughout its network.
