VIK Complete Care Helps Lake Travis ISD Staff Prepare for Cardiac Emergencies Through Heartsaver CPR and AED Training

AUSTIN, TX — September 2026

VIK Complete Care joined Lake Travis ISD and Republic EMS to provide Heartsaver CPR and AED training at Lake Travis Elementary, located at 15303 Kollmeyer Drive in Austin.

The training brought together 19 participants, including Lake Travis ISD Head Nurse Sarah Hoover and district teachers. Eighteen participants completed the requirements to receive Heartsaver CPR and AED certification. An eight-year-old attendee also participated and showed a strong interest in learning the lifesaving techniques demonstrated during the class.

The training focused on helping school employees recognize a cardiac emergency, begin CPR, and properly use an automated external defibrillator. Christian and Jared, instructors with Republic EMS, led the course and provided participants with practical emergency response instruction.

The event carried special meaning for the Lake Travis community following the recent death of a Lake Travis High School student athlete who experienced cardiac arrest during football practice. The loss has reinforced the importance of preparing school employees and community members to respond quickly during a cardiac emergency.

“Working closely with Lake Travis ISD gives us the opportunity to support the people who care for students every day. Providing CPR and AED training helps educators feel more prepared and confident if they ever need to respond during a cardiac emergency.”
Shauna Tripp, Regional Marketing Liaison for VIK Complete Care

VIK Complete Care maintains an ongoing partnership with Lake Travis ISD through support for educational programs, athletic activities, community events, and emergency preparedness initiatives.

“Strong community partnerships should create a meaningful and lasting impact,” said George Reainthong, Director of Marketing and Growth for Complete Care. “By helping provide CPR and AED training, we are supporting Lake Travis ISD with skills that could make a critical difference when every second matters.”

The training also created an opportunity for participants to share their personal experiences with local healthcare services. Hoover discussed how VIK Complete Care helped identify and diagnose her daughter’s type 2 diabetes, highlighting the role that accessible emergency care can play in recognizing serious medical conditions.

Through local partnerships and community outreach, VIK Complete Care continues to support emergency preparedness and healthcare education throughout Austin and the surrounding Lake Travis community. VIK Complete Care provides 24-hour emergency care with access to hospital-level diagnostic and emergency services in a convenient freestanding emergency room setting.
