Freestanding emergency rooms are required, by law, to offer the same capabilities as hospital-based emergency rooms in Texas and Colorado (the two states in which Complete Care operates). In other words, a Complete Care freestanding ER can treat all of the same medical emergencies as ERs attached to a hospital, but with shorter wait times. Meaning when you choose Complete Care for your medical emergencies, you won’t have to worry about waiting to be seen while you or a loved one are in your time of need.

What is a freestanding emergency room?

A stand-alone emergency room (aka freestanding ER) is a type of emergency room that is physically and structurally separate from a hospital. Whether or not a freestanding emergency room is affiliated with or owned by a particular hospital depends on the freestanding emergency room.

Complete Care freestanding emergency rooms are neither affiliated with nor owned by hospitals. In Texas and Colorado, freestanding emergency room regulations dictate that our freestanding ERs and our physicians are able to provide the exact same capabilities and standard of care to patients as emergency rooms attached to a hospital.

Complete Care’s capabilities include:

What all of this means is that Texans and residents of Colorado Springs can visit a freestanding emergency room like Complete Care without worrying that the ER won’t be able to provide the same level of treatment or testing.

Please note that freestanding emergency rooms are not the same as urgent care facilities. For more information about the difference between the two, please see our article: Freestanding ERs vs. Urgent Care.

What are the key differences between a hospital-based and a freestanding emergency room?

Freestanding ERs can have many benefits depending on the emergency you’re facing, but they aren’t right for every situation. In cases that may require immediate surgery or a specialized cardiac procedure, like some hypertensive crisis situations, the individual will need to be transported to a hospital-based emergency room for additional care.

However, for most emergencies, a stand-alone emergency room provides a faster, more efficient, and potentially more affordable way to get the care you need. Here’s why:

Benefits of going to a Complete Care freestanding emergency room

Curious about the pros and cons of a freestanding emergency room? There are many benefits to visiting a freestanding ER instead of a hospital-based ER, under the right circumstances.

In particular, Complete Care’s full-service freestanding emergency rooms are known for their:

1. Low wait times:

One of the many anxieties patients feel during a medical emergency is that of having to wait to get treatment when they’re suffering and in pain. This isn’t experienced when you visit a Complete Care freestanding emergency room. Our staff works efficiently and effectively so that you never have to worry about being seen quickly and getting the treatment and medicine you need, fast.

2. Transparent billing:

At Complete Care, we believe that our patients should be able to get the care they need without worrying about costs. Our billing system is simple, flexible, and transparent.

3. Award-winning care for patients of all ages:

Take it from our satisfied patients, Complete Care goes above and beyond when making sure that our patients not only get the treatment that they need but also receive care and compassion during their medical emergency.

4. Location

When it comes to your health or the well-being of the ones you love, every second you spend trying to get them to care counts. Free-standing emergency rooms are often located in more suburban areas than hospitals are so that when you need it, your emergency care could be closer to home.
